The Watson Homestead • 2019
2019 has been one amazing ride for the Watson Homestead! Travel, community events, ever changing work schedules. a new kindergartener and a rowdy three year old have kept the days flying by!
Robbie and I continue to enjoy our lives here in Hemple, a tiny little town in northwest Missouri. We live on a quaint 20 acres that his great grandparents once lived, where we built our forever home just 5 years ago. The neighborhood here is one that we wouldn't trade for the world and fireflies fill our pasture in the summer. If you happen upon our home, you'll find too many "project trucks" to count and flower beds that leave proof of my lack of a green thumb. You might also stumble upon one of the many gatherings we have with friends and family or even the Turkey Shoot, our yearly hoopla of shooting clay pigeons and smoking more pig loins than any of us could eat. We used to dream of these days here in Hemple when were were teens and now all that's left is to soak in the memories and hope we make it to the days of our only to-do list being to rock on the front porch together.
Robbie continues his career as a Journeyman Lineman with RS Electric and we have been blessed to have him working fairly close to home over the last few years. He enjoys tinkering in the shop on his never ending projects (I'm going to have him admitted for ford truck hoarding one of these days) and keeps busy helping friends and neighbors as often as he can. This year has been one of slowing down the bar scene with this band and they have been playing more opry shows and low-key events. While I miss rocking out to Free Bird at the end of a Saturday night, we sure do enjoy the slower pace on weekends.
Holly is now 5 and started kindergarten this year. She is enjoying the social side of school and loves art. She is picking up on reading more every day too! This year, she really started to want to sing on stage with Robbie and his family. I could be humble and say she does well, but as her momma and knowing how timid she is at heart... It makes me smile BIG seeing her up on that stage. The looks exchanged between her and Robbie are the best!
Andi is still changing every day. She is the rambunctious one of the family and is constantly keeping us on our toes! Her love for horses and rowdy ramblings led to a birthday party with her own horse rides. Her great grandma (Grandma Cookie) even took a ride with her! Andi has always loved the water and she is still talking about our trip to Destin this summer. If you leave her quiet in her room for too long, it's a good bet that she will stroll out like a diva in her favorite swimsuit, no matter the weather!
As for my year, well you can read all out it over on the "Behind The Scenes" page!
I encourage you to take a minute and scroll through the photos at the bottom of the page from our year below. Watching the girls' grow is the best part!
